At Caftan Skalli, the magic of thread and needle has been passed down for more than three generations.

Salima El Boussouni takes over from her mother Aicha Skalli and grandmother Zoubida Lamrini, who ran a dressmaking school. She was lucky enough to be immersed in the trade from an early age, and today finds herself at the head of the fashion house, which has been in existence for almost 40 years, with thousands of satisfied customers around the world and almost a hundred fashion shows in all four corners of the globe.

Passionate about the caftan from an early age, she started out as a child model for Caftan Skalli, parading in several countries before embarking on the design of her own creations at the age of 14.

Drawing on her diverse skills and experience in both fashion design and events, she has modernized the line and brought a breath of fresh air to it by combining modern cuts and colors with the caftan in all its splendor and authenticity.

She took part in several fashion shows in Morocco and abroad and was selected to exhibit her collection in the prestigious Galleries Lafayette showcase.

Salima has more than one string to her bow; she has also become a presenter for Morocco’s Fashion One channel and has interviewed several celebrities at social events in the fashion world.

In 2015, her dream finally came true: Salima El Boussouni took part as a young talent in the 19th edition of Caftan.

In 2016, Caftan celebrated its 20th anniversary, with over 400 candidates applying to take part. Salima was one of the 14 finalists, this time taking part as an established stylist.

She also had the privilege of being invited to appear on the famous MBC television set in Dubai with the famous Lojain Omran on the program “Sabah El Kheir Ya Arab”.

A famous Moroccan painter, Nawal Sekkat, noticed her talent and gave her the privilege of being the first to exhibit her designs in her art gallery. For the first time, caftans were exhibited and sold as works of art.

In 2017, she returned in style with a collection in tribute to Princess Diana to mark the 20th anniversary of her death, and was awarded the great honor of opening the event, which would land her creation on the cover of the coveted annual magazine “CAFTAN”.

Salima El Boussouni transcends borders, presenting her collection at Fashion Weeks in major fashion capitals including Paris, New York, Dubai, Beirut, Cairo, Lisbon, Geneva, Montreal, Kuwait City, Abidjan, Algiers and many more…

During her show  in Dubai in 2018, her collection won her the first prize: “Best Fashion Innovation Award” against more than a dozen renowned designers from several different countries including Japan, Canada, Spain, Syria, Jordan etc.

In 2018, during the Cannes Film Festival, she was selected from among several designers to have the immense privilege of dressing Latoya Jackson for the famous red carpet walk up the steps.

In 2019, she will have the chance to take part in Milan Fashion Week, the Fashion Awards in Cairo, Caftan World Fashion in Geneva and La Fashion Day Dzair, and will be presented with an award at each of these events.

Finally, she will be the first Moroccan designer to take part in the famous “Designers and Brands” fashion show at Beirut and will see her collections paraded alongside the biggest names in Lebanese and Arab haute couture.

In 2020, the health crisis didn’t stop her from doing dozens of shoots and a virtual fashion show, and her designs were paraded in Sydney at a show where Caftan Skalli was represented by Casa Caftans.

In 2022, she was invited to dress several renowned artists for the red carpet of the Marrakech Film Festival, and was repeatedly invited by Leila Hadioui to present her collection on the television show “Sabahiyates” .

In 2023, she set herself the challenge of posting 100 different models in one year, and she rose to the challenge with flying colors.
